Studio Merkx + Girod converted Dutch church in Maastricht into a book store.

vajco pattern

Great pattern I have found from Co vajco.

MA MA MA MA

Series of posters I have designed for MA talk at NUCA. I was really happy when the school decided to use my idea but when I saw the way how they used it I was very disappointed. The task was to create A3 poster. As I think A3 is not a size for poster I designed two posters which can be connected together and can create wallpaper. So if you connect only 4 A3 you will get A1. you can wallpaper all wall, every window or door. Because the design is so simple the overall image will be really eye catching. However it turned to be as usually client is the smartest. Instead of printed A3 they asked me to prepare A4 and they printed it A5 .... fff. So I now. I have to take care about my design till the very end!

tEA and cAKE

Tea & Cake London is a book collecting cafes around London worth visiting by Zena Alkayat. I really like the cover of the book, bright colors awoke the feeling I have when i go for a cup of tea here. And the typography - very British. Have to see it!
(Should be available in the Design shop of THE desIGN museum in LND.)

1000 cranes

If you fold a thousand paper cranes and make a wish after each one, your wish will come true!

gOOd morNINg

Yesterday nigh I tried to fold my first origami and was wondering how it would look in the morning. Everything looks different in the morning. First time I saw these origami as a decoration I think it was in Mama Coffee in Prague and than in PApelote. I have a lot of color paper so I though I can decorate my room little bit.

Sanna Annukka

Sanna Annukka is a British/Finnish illustrator. All her prints are inspired by a folklore and Scandinavian nature. Probably that's why I found her patterns so interesting. She worked for English Vogue, M&S or she created a cover for Keane's CDs. What I like about her is the way how she works for all these companies. Every illustration is her own, she made it how she felt it. Sometimes companies have strong opinions about how the final outcome should look and don't allow to the artists to be creative. But I guess she is on a different level.

On her website I found pictures from a screen printing process. Hopefully after this semester ends I will be able to present my illustrations in screen prints.

heart

Little bit late but I wanted to upload this heart here. Big heart for hAVEL was made in Trafačka from candles lighted for him across the Czech Republic during December 2011 and January 2012. The final sculpture was then placed on the National theatre square ... Alenko půjčila jsem si srdce.

oKOLO Mono

Typeface created by Jan Novák for OKOLO magazine Vienna issue. Okolo Mono was inspired by London Underground typeface from 1916. I know the magazine but have never get a chance to flip through the pages or buy it. Hopefully next time when I will come to Prague.
