ID občanský průkaz

Another good movie I have seen this week. The translation to english would be simply "ID". The story is set into the communist regime year 1975 and show how ridicules the life was. Even I am living in the Czech Republic with history which pissed me off fortunately I was enough lucky to be born only two years before 1989. My parents talked about their childhood and teenage age a lot but at the beginning I couldn't believe that actually something like this could happen. When I was growing up and people started to loos shame and fear a lot movies about ridicules communist regime where made and many of us born plus-minus 2 or 3 years around 1989 started to better understand the period.

Watching the movie I had my head full of question starting with Why? Why? and Why? ... People who were "normal" automatically became enemies of state. Talented people tried to escape behind the border of SSSR because sometimes they didn't get chance to continue to university. People were treated as animals - ridicules lines for meat and bananas, special licence to go for holiday, "Public Safe" police which should secure people but actually only dived them and the fact you couldn't believe to anybody. "What now for you seems so obvious we couldn't imagine to have" I started to understand this sentence more and more.

Uglydolls

One of the brief for the LP&C module I chose is the "Conflict resolution" one where I have created toys for children who are suffering from parental divorce and all fights around. When I was looking for inspiration I remembered the Ugly dolls toys which I saw in one toy shop in Denmark. I love these creatures but I am wondering if children like them too. They are soft and nice in different colours but some of the faces can be scaring. Even I am adults I like to collect all strange toys like these so for sure the design of my toys will be somehow inspired by Ugly dolls.

Decadence Now

After my big fear I finally went to the exhibition Decadence Now in Rudolfínum. Because I read a lot positive about Decadence in newspapers, magazines and on the internet I was still playing in my mind with an idea that I want to go there. On the other hand all articles which were describing the exhibition discouraged me to go. I created so strong opinion that I wouldn't be able to see much of the Art so I would rather "stay at home". Because the decision of going was so fast and spontaneous I didn't have chance to say no. Maybe because of the fear and big expectations of terrifying experience I was surprised that after leaving the exhibition I wasn't feeling somehow shocked or disgusted. I have to admit I still don't understand why Decadence got 100% from critique but overall interestedly spent one hour of Thursday state holiday.

www.facebook.com

I don't want to write what was the movie about so if anyone wants to see it he will be surprised so as I was. I didn't expect anything and I was very excited. I didn't know much about history of Facebook before I came to the cinema that's why every minute shown me something new. It is also always different feeling if you know that the story is real and most of it somewhen happened in the real life. And because it is about Facebook where everyone of us click everyday minimal five times per day we become part of the movie even more. Whenever I click to www.facebook.com now I remember the movie and I still can't believe what all had to happen to make this social network so popular.

NTK

Even I don't understand architectonic rules what is well-done building and what went wrong, the NTK (National technical library) is in my opinion and also what I have read in news great work. The idea of raw concrete with simple black line drawings and colorful floor is amazing. The light in the library is very soft and turns the grey walls look white. Also the colorful floor and white tables give to the place light atmosphere which creates pleasant environment for studying. Because the library is a technical one all over the building are numbers which are not normally displayed for public. These numbers show on which step are you standing, how tall is the building, how long will take you to climb the stairs or even measurement of the mirror on the toilet.

Shop-window which will pay for my laptop

So here it is. I have already posted few pictures of the stickers but this is finally the overall photo of Art&Books gallery shop-window which I have created. The logo is not my designed, only the heads and the arrangement of the stickers.

t. for toy, travel, today, typography, tomorrow, tea, two, twenty, tube, tuesday, text, towel ... táňa

Yesterday evening when I tried to focus on brainstorming ideas for Live Project module and researching for my dissertation I couldn't focus on these topics. It usually happens to me when I tried to and need to do something connected with school or work. I am not able to work with the given topic which is actual that time but my mind is focusing on the topic which I don't need to do so urgent.

I came back to one of my concept from professional communication module, took dictionary and began finding words under english section T. This concept which I will probably choose to develop and use for my corporate identity is based on cyan cmyk t. This t. stands for my name - Táňa. It is obvious for me why I have chosen t, but what if somebody sees the logo for the first time without knowing the connection? What for is the t. stand for them? I wrote down all the words which were somehow interesting for me and tried to changed them into my marketing materials.

t. for toy .Maybe little bit childish but why not? I love to do handmade products. About one month ago I have created from plasticine two "guys" which are now standing and watching me from window sill. I am not focusing on designing toys but if the identity which I will create should represent me these mascots can't be missing. The second and last idea I was thinking about is t. for travel. As I love travelling I came up with idea of creating some kind of a travel diary with maps, my travel tips, pockets and place for notes inside. I want to continue today again with my dissertation and live project assignment so maybe I will come up with more ideas for my t.

ISTD not just fleurons

ISTD topic about plants and gardens caught my attention immediately. Even the topic is very broad the condition of using typography makes it little bit narrow but only a little bit. So gardens and plants ... when I started to brainstorm about all the connections I realized we can't live without green. For many people nature became in some way indivisible part of their lives. Artist such as Monet, Mucha or Gaudi usually found their inspiration in nature. During the 20 century when all the big cities became overbuild by skyscrapers and it wasn't enough to have just plant in pot, the green roof garden started to come up. And what about the present almost everyone of us for sure has already once in its life got or gave - the bouquet.

PF 2011

The printing house company where I was working during the summer, asked me to create a New Year's card for them. As I love typography I decided to design all in this direction. The card will be folded to size A6 and the "typography ball" will be seen only from half. I have used soft blue for glossy cover which reminds me soft snow during the Christmas and for the inside pages I inverted the background and made the PF 2011 came out from the "typography ball" in the same red colour as the logo is.

eat pray love

Yesterday evening I went to cinema to see new movie called Eat, pray and love. The story is about a woman who found herself confused and unlucky in the life she was living. She decided to leave hectic New York city for one year and visited Italy, India and Bali.

Words eat, pray and love stand for the three countries Liz has visited. And these three words also let inspire the design of first relieved poster for the movie. This movie and specially design of the poster reminded me a "conflict" brief we got in Live project module. The conflict in the movie appeared between Liz, her way of life, her partnerships and in one moment in everything what she did. The poster with peaceful colours and "pasta" typography shows the answer for all her questions and gives me little bit of inspiration for design of one live project brief.

the TWINS

Os Gemeos are two twins artists from Brazil who I have known already for more then two years. I admire they style of using colors and materials for their art. Most of their works are done by sprays and can be found on the streets, in the galleries painted directly on the walls. For their painting they use also for example diamantes to decorate clothes. The twins for sure are not classical artists who exhibit their work on canvas. Even some of their paintings are on canvas and walls as I have already mentioned they also used doors, guitars, boxes or status done by themselves ... hopefully they will inspire me for my live project - final show.

stickers, stickers, stickers, stickers, stickers, stickers

Thinking about my extra marketing materials - one of my first idea which I want to use are stickers. If I would designed series of different stickers I can stick them anywhere I want. I can make my box, bag, envelope, notebook etc.

DANISH design

Doing research for my dissertation I can't forget to mention designers Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen. Jacobsen's design distinguished by simplicity and beauty which make his design so unique and modern even all his products come from 50' and 60'. I am thinking why is Danish design so fascinating for me, what inspire designers to produce such a nice furniture or lamps. Arne Jacobsen was searching for inspiration in nature which is obvious just from the name he gave to his products - ant or egg chair.

But what about Danish graphic design? I have already found some interesting projects from Danish students. But does Denmark have also such a big name as Arne Jacobsen in graphic design history?

Karina Petersen

Doing research for my dissertation work I have found website of Karina Petersen. I was amazed by all her illustrations and projects with typography. This girl or woman showed me good graphic design which is in my opinion missing in Denmark. I love Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningson but are there also these big talented names also in area of graphic design?

collage concept

This is my other concept. Firstly I designed the logo as my name cut out from the newspapers and glued together. Then I started to think about using for every other stationary different word but still done by the same method of cutting out letters from press. So I have designed letterhead with word "hello", my website with "come in" and pdf portfolio with numbers "01,02 ...". I think of this concept as a representation of my interest in editorial and basically in typography.

curious breakfast

Curious breakfast is a project from french collective of artists called Paper Donuts. Their works are based on space scenography and geometrical shapes created from paper. This project was done for a competition called "Your Curious Story". The table is full of different meals you can or you should't eat for breakfast such as tomatoes, chocolate, muffins, donates, eggs, bacon, fries ...

filling my sketchbook

I have three concepts which are not yet all applied to website and pdf presentation. But already now I know that with one it won't be so easy - the concept with pictures. I wanted to use different colours but it will disturb projects for portfolio. That's why I will be deciding between concept of "t" which contains only cmyk blue and black (for portfolio blue can be changed) and "collage" concept which is only black and white.

fruko

I like the design which makes people smile. That is what I would like to and I am trying to do also.

by Yunyeen Yong from Australia

by Mats Ottdal from Norway

t.

Concept of cmyk blue t which inspired me for the colours of the blog. So far this is my most favourite idea I have came up in the sketchbook.

tango ARGENTINO

Yesterday night I went to see a dance, I went to hear a music, I went to taste wines ...

Tangomanie is a night in Brno, held once a year. About 15 couples prepare a theatre play where you can't hear a word ... they don't speak ... they dance. They dance tango argentino (argentine tango).

The beginning of the evening was started by 5 musicians with dancers performing history of tango argo. All continued by tasting wines from Argentina. But the main part for all who love tango came after 8pm. Band started to play and all couples came to the dance floor ... women closed their eyes and they started to dance. Even I don't know how to dance tango argentino I was amazed ...

Art & Books Gallery

Bookstore and gallery in one for which I have designed wrapping papers, shop window and wallpaper will open next week. Finally the shop window was finished during Friday and Saturday.

I have designed two kinds of wrapping papers for the shop. One was inspired by old newspaper printed in our town Zlín in 1920 - 1940. The other one has white images of artist on red background that where used also for decoration of the shop. Together were printed 10.000 copies of the paper which weighed incredible 280 kilos.
